Beyond Pesticides Ohio Seeks a Community Organizer
Beyond Pesticides Ohio has a part time community organizer position available for our Safe Lawn, Landscapes and Public Spaces Campaign. C.O. or related experience a plus, but will train the right person.
The Campaign's goal is to get Cleveland and greater Cleveland Institutions (schools, cities, park districts, hospitals, private businesses etc.) to adopt organic turf care practices. Person should enjoy meeting the public and empowering others to act. Duties include leading or helping lead informational meetings in homes, churches, schools etc. The C.O. will demonstrate to citizens on how to approach their school/city council members and how to get them to adopt organic turf policies and ordinances. The C.O. will also meet with community leaders and educate them about the Campaign's goals and enlist their support. Campaign activities may also include planning and helping host educational forums and workshops, writing articles, updating written literature, informational tabling and organizing street clubs and neighborhood meetings.
Involves 20-40 hours a month. Flexible hours. Modest salary.
