On Sunday, October 14th, NCJW/Cleveland, KickStartLove, and Paladar will be hosting a volunteer event for community-minded singles in Cleveland. Attendees will be painting a mural and created tie-dyed t-shirts for Fairhill, a Cleveland Heights based social service agency that provides support for the elderly and foster children.

"Since it is easier to spark a connection if you share core values, we wanted to create an event for singles who are interested in giving back to the community." says Elana Averbach, the founder of KickStartLove, a coaching and dating service. "NCJW/Cleveland has a great history of matching volunteers to community needs, so they were a natural partner for the project."

The community at Fairhill had long been hoping for a mural to decorate their lunch pavilion, where residents and campers go for lunch and staff. “It was a place that needed some cheering up,” says Stacey Rokoff, the associate director of Fairhill.

There are currently more than thirty singles signed up for the event. Paladar is generously donating the food, and Sherwin Williams and HandsOne Northeast Ohio are donating the supplies.

“The event is all about connections: to each other, to the community, and to the greater world,” said Rebecca Brouman, Director of Volunteers at NCJW/Cleveland section.
