TONIGHT: Samuel Adams Employees to Welcome Cleveland Small Business Owners to Brewing the American Dream Speed Coaching Event
For people who need advice on how to start or grow a small business in the food, beverage or hospitality industry, the Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream Speed Coaching event is one place to get started.
Samuel Adams employee-specialists and other local business experts will join Cleveland small business owners on October 24th at The Shaker Launch House to offer speed coaching; providing tips on starting and strengthening their businesses in the food, beverage and hospitality industries. The October event will mark the program’s 20th Speed Coaching workshop, at which more than 1,500 small business owners have participated in these spirited 20-minute sessions with Samuel Adams employees to get free advice across a number of expertise areas.
The Boston Beer Company started the Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream program in 2008, partnering with ACCION, the country’s leading not-for-profit microlender, to offer microloans and mentoring resources to small business owners in the food, beverage and hospitality industry. Originally launched in New England, the program expanded to Ohio in February 2011 and has since made the program available to small business owners in New York, Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania and most recently, Chicago, Illinois. To date, over 700 jobs have been created or saved and the program has helped over 100 businesses. Businesses in Ohio that have taken advantage include JC’s Sweet Tea, Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices, Just Great Foods and You Mix-It Up amongst others.
What: Samuel Adams employees will offer one-on-one advice in areas including: marketing and public relations, packaging, sales and distribution, financing, business planning and legal counseling – all ingredients that will help make your business successful. Interviews with Samuel Adams Speed Coaches, and/or Brewing the American Dream beneficiaries available upon request.
WHY: Jim Koch, founder of The Boston Beer Company, knows a few things about starting a business from the ground up. In 1984, Koch had a dream – to make beer. But it wasn’t easy. He couldn’t get a bank loan and when every distributor in Boston turned him down, he went bar to bar selling his beer and then rented a truck to deliver it himself. Today, he is one of the leading pioneers in the beverage industry. The Brewing the American Dream program stems from the challenges Jim faced when he started Samuel Adams 27 years ago, with the goal to provide other passionate small business owners with the tools they need to grow and succeed.
