A 12-year-old girl said she was walking with a friend at 4:40 p.m. Oct. 2 near Nobleshire and Noble roads when a teen attacked her and stole her iPad. The girl said the suspect punched her in the face and ran toward Randolph Road, but police were not able to find him.
The next day, a similar incident occurred on the 900 block of Pembrook Road. Two teens approximately 16 to 18 years old ran up to a 13-year-old girl and stole her iPad from her hands at about 3:30 p.m. In both incidents, the iPads were school-issued.
Reports compiled from call logs and information from the Cleveland Heights Police Department.

Maybe the district should have thought of this prior to switching to iPads for middle schoolers. They basically have broadcast that these kids have them now which has just put a big target on those students that walk home. This is what the 4th time that this has been reported since school started just a month and a half ago? It would be nice to know what could be done about this?

Is it because these are expensive iPads? The students were given laptops several years prior to this one, so I'm wondering how many incidents occurred because of those? Regardless I have to believe that the district should perhaps consider using a type of tablet that is cheaper and has a lower-profile than iPads. There are a number of alternatives that work just as well that cost significantly less.
