Bites Nearby: Myxx

New establishment in the Cedar Fairmount Business District aims for a mix of dining and entertainment pleasures

MYXX — Cozy restaurants with tightly packed tables can be fun and friendly. But there’s something to be said for a dining room that is open and airy.

And that’s the South Beach (minus LeBron) feeling in the new Myxx restaurant, occupying the space formerly filled by Jilllian’s billiard club. Gone are the pool tables, replaced by a large island bar, leather couches for schmoozing at cocktail hour, crisp white tables and chairs, and tons of elbow room.

The menu is eclectic with 11 small plates such as smoked bacon-wrapped sea scallops and rosemary garlic rub baby lamb chops.

Entrees are comprised of big plates and pasta. Among the former, Myxx offers a blackened grouper with garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed green beans and fresh tomato salsa.

A featured pasta dish is linguine with white clam sauce, littleneck clams, crushed red pepper, and a white wine and fresh herb butter broth.

Myxx also intends on jazzing up nightlife in the area by offering live music, comedy, acts and dancing to DJ-spun tunes.

So put away your custom pool cue and come relax at Myxx, where the vibe is “dine, drink and dégagé.”

12459 Cedar Road, 216-321-MYXX. Open Sun.-Wed. 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Thurs.-Sat. 4 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Prices: Small Plates $7-$14, Big Plates $19-$27, Pasta $12-$16.
