Bites Nearby: Pearl of the Orient
A popular destination for Chinese food lovers for more than 33 years
Pearl of the Orient — If you’ve grown up in this area, you probably remember Pearl of the Orient — the restaurant that introduced Northern and Szechuan cooking to our little slice of Northeast Ohio back in 1978.
During that time, owner Rose Wong has been serving well-prepared dishes and winning numerous restaurant awards in the process.
The atmosphere of the dining room is cozy and a bit of a throwback to the 1970s and '80s, and the menu selection is nothing short of enormous.
Take your pick from a variety of chicken, duck, pork and beef dishes, as well as an array of mixed stir-fry options and noodle entrees. And all can be ordered mild, medium or extra hot.
The Triple Delight is a combination of chicken, beef and sea scallops stir-fried with assorted veggies and served in a garlic sauce. And the Szechuan Vegetables offers asparagus, broccoli, mushrooms, snow pea pods and more in their pungent Szechuan sauce.
There are also special “theme nights” at the Pearl. On Tuesdays, ladies can enjoy two cocktails for the price of one. And at Thursday “Wine and Dine,” you pay half price for a bottle of wine (your choice) with the purchase of two dinner entrees.
