For a full meal or an after-show nosh, it's The Mad Greek
THE MAD GREEK — If you want to top off an evening out, there’s a treat awaiting you at The Mad Greek that is simple — and simply delicious. Stop by, where Fairmount meets Cedar, and order the hoomis (their spelling) and pita bread appetizer.
The warm, almost-bite-sized wedges of toasted pita are piled in stacks and are delicious even without going for a dip in the bowl. But the Greek’s homemade concoction of chickpeas, lemon, tahini and garlic is to die for.
Of course, if you rushed out to the movie without eating and you’re starving for something other than chemically buttered popcorn, there is a bounty of substantial Greek, Indian and Mediterranean offerings. The bistro-style dining areas are inviting, and there is full bar service.
The Mad Greek has been in this location for 35 years, founded by Loki Chopra, who was Indian, and his Greek wife Nickie Fellouzis (that explains the somewhat eclectic menu).
But nothing fully explains the hypnotic attraction of The Mad Greek’s pita and hoomis platter. So if you must, skip the show and just head over to the Greek.
