Cleveland Heights Council Expected To Appoint New Member at Wednesday Meeting
Council has selected Janine Boyd to replace former member Phyllis Evans. She is expected to be sworn in at the regular council meeting Wednesday.
Cleveland Heights City Council is expected to officially appoint its newest member, Janine Boyd, at its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in City Hall.
The Monday meeting was moved in observance of the Jewish holiday Sukkot.
Boyd replaces former councilwoman Phyllis Evans, who resigned in May after serving on council for nearly 20 years.
Evans, just like Boyd, was appointed to the seat at first. And the woman Evans replaced was none other than Boyd's mother, Barbara Boyd.
Council selected Boyd out of 21 applicants (including Evans at first).

If I had been one of the folks who applied by the first deadline, I'd be pretty aggravated. Well, I wasn't, but I'm pretty aggravated, anyways.
There was no reason to reopen the application period, or to accept the late applications.
It looks to me as if "party needs" over-ruled the best interests of the city and any sense of fair play.
