Cleveland Heights Extends Free Parking Weekends

The "Summer in the City" free parking weekends received a positive response, according to the City of Cleveland Heights, so it will continue the offer until the end of the year.

The City of Cleveland Heights offered free parking at all on-street, garage and parking lot meters during three weekends this summer, proclaiming it the "Summer in the City" celebration.

And apparently it was a success, because the city is extending the offer one weekend each month until the end of the year, according to a post on the city's website.

"Due to the positive response to the 'Summer in the City' free parking offer, the city is extending the free parking through the rest of 2012. On the last weekend of each month, parking will be free wherever you see a meter," the city wrote.

You don't need to feed the meters during the following days:

  • Sept. 28, 29 & 30
  • Oct. 26, 27 & 28
  • Nov. 23, 24 & 25
  • Dec. 28, 29 & 30

"It gives people a chance to rediscover Cleveland Heights and let people know Cleveland Heights is alive and well and let people see the restaurants and shops here," said Mayor Ed Kelley in an interview in June. "I think it will be an economic engine for businesses and get people to come to Cleveland Heights and see us again."

How could they expect this to receive anything but a "positive response"?
