Cleveland Heights Fire Department Joins Facebook
The CHFD wants to provide information for residents through the social media site.
The Cleveland Heights Fire Department has launched a Facebook page.
The department is following the lead of the Cleveland Heights Police Department, which implemented the Thursday night "Meet Your Police" program in March 2011 and launched a Facebook page in January of this year.
The goal is for police and fire officials to have more interaction with residents.
This was discussed when it was first announced that William Freeman, a 20-year veteran on the Cleveland Heights Fire Department, would be the new chief.
Freeman, who was sworn in at the end of August, explained the goals of the Cleveland Heights Fire Department Facebook page.
"I thought that the page would be an ideal way to post information that affected the residents and enable us to quickly update them during an emergency situation such as the recent storm," Freeman said. "Information provided will be emergency updates, safety tips, hydrant flushing, etc."
