Historical Tour of Coventry Offered This Saturday

Take a tour of the historic Cleveland Heights neighborhood with the help of an interactive history app.

Cleveland Heights is well represented in “Cleveland Historical,” an interactive history app highlighting Cleveland’s people and places developed by Cleveland State University’s Center for Public History and Digital Humanities.

The app will be used during “an app-enhanced walking tour of the Coventry neighborhood” from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 25, but you don’t need to own a smartphone to participate.

Mark Souther, associate professor of history at CSU and a member of the Cleveland Heights Landmark Commission, will lead the tour, according to an article in FutureHeights' publication, The Heights Observer. The local organization is working to create more Cleveland Heights tours along with the center, the Cleveland Heights Historical Society and the Cleveland Heights Landmark Commission.

Locations highlighted in the tour include Tommy's, Coventry Poultry Market, Diamond's Flowers and Briggs Estate.

The tour will begin at the Coventry P.E.A.C.E. arch near Coventry Village Library. For more information, visit The Heights Observer and Cleveland Historical.
