Man Robs BP Gas Station But Leaves Something Behind
Police say they were able to identify the suspect by something he left at the scene of the crime.
An employee at the BP gas station on the 3900 block of Mayfield Road called police and said a man robbed the store just around 9 p.m. Aug. 18.
The man walked in, grabbed a 40 oz. bottle of beer and made his way toward the cashier. Suddenly he smashed the bottle and threatened the employee with the broken glass. He attempted to open the cash register but couldn't, and demanded that the woman help him open the drawer.
He stole cash and four packs of cigarettes. While police were speaking with the victim, they discovered the man left something behind — his driver's license. And it happened to be his birthday.
Police have a warrant out for Rodney L. Peterson, 25, of South Euclid, for aggravated robbery charges.
Reports compiled from call logs and information from the Cleveland Heights Police Department.
