Ohio Primary Election: What You Need To Know

Information to help you prepare for the polls and get out and vote

election has finally arrived. Voters who declare a party at the polls will get to decide which candidates will represent their party in races in the fall general election. So get out and vote! Here are a few last-minute reminders:

  • Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Cuyahoga County.
  • The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections has a list of polling locations by city, and you can double check where you vote here. Your polling location may have changed since November.
  • Make sure you bring a valid photo identification card (e.g., driver's license or state ID), military identification or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or another document that shows your name and current address.
  • Let us know how things look at the polls in the comments section or via Facebook and Twitter. Are there lines? Any problems? Or are things running smoothly? 
  • We will also check in at polling places during the day and tell you via Facebook and Twitter how things look and what your friends and neighbors are saying about the issues and candidates. We'll continue throughout the day with stories on voter turnout and a real-time blog that will pull together photos, tweets, stories and commentary about the .

  • In Cleveland Heights, Ohio House Democratic leader are running in the 9th Ohio House District. We'll post results as soon as they come in and update them in the evening until the final, unofficial numbers come in.
