At the Coventry Street Arts Fair, dancing in the streets is a given — even if the partners are life-sized puppets.

Since its launch in the 1970s, the Coventry Street Arts Fair has become a summer tradition.

In the beginning, the festival lasted an entire weekend; now it's two single days.

The first event, which ran from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, featured more than 100 vendors, two stages, street performers and food along Coventry Road.

Thousands packed the strip between Euclid Heights Boulevard and Mayfield Road, and the event went on for the most part without a hitch.

But a tussle among teens around 5:15 p.m. threatened to disrupt the fair. Police calmed the crowd, and the music continued. The fair ended around 6 p.m. as scheduled.

The next fair will be on Sunday, July 24.
