Police Blotter: Fight on Coventry Puts Man in Hospital

A concerned citizen called police and said a man was being assaulted near the 1800 block of Coventry Road at 1:35 a.m. Dec. 22. Police said two suspects described as white men put the 22-year-old man from Solon in a chokehold, and when they threw him to the ground, the impact knocked him out. Police said the fight started with four men throwing punches. The suspects fled, and the victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center's intensive care unit. He is recovering.

Man robbed at gunpoint

A 27-year-old from University Heights said a man robbed him at gunpoint at 12:36 a.m. Dec. 21 near Lee and Kensington Roads. The suspect stole his wallet and cell phone. Police are still investigating. The suspect is described as a black teenager, 5-feet, 1-inch to 5-feet, 5-inches tall and thin.

Break-in at First Choice Barbers

on N. Taylor Road reported at 9:23 a.m. Dec. 21 that someone broke into the store and stole photos.

Residents say they heard gunshots Christmas Day

Two citizens called police at 7:23 p.m. Dec. 25 and said they heard four to five gunshots in the area, near the 3700 block of Delmore Road. Officers could not locate the source.

Four burglary reports Dec. 21

Two units in a building on the 1600 block of Belmar Road reported an attempted burglary and burglary at 12:15 a.m. Dec. 21. Burglaries were also reported on the 3300 block of Yorkshire Road and the 2500 block of Overlook Road the same day.
