Police Blotter: Woman Says She Was Assaulted, Robbed in Cain Park

received a call from University Hospitals at 3:48 a.m. April 14 reporting a woman there was assaulted earlier in . The Cleveland Heights resident said she was walking home around 11 p.m. and cut through the park to get home. While walking near the theater, someone came up to her from behind, punched her and stole her money. Police Chief Jeffrey Robertson reminded residents to not walk through parks at night, which are closed anyway at that time. The woman is recovering from her injuries.

"We don’t want residents walking through the park after hours," Robertson said. "If you’re going to be walking home at night, don’t walk through a park."

A concerned citizen called Cleveland Heights Police at about 3 p.m. April 12 and said a man was sprawled out on the ground near the 2300 block of Coventry Road. Police discovered that he was drunk. When they asked the 65-year-old Cleveland Heights resident for identification, he handed them his concealed carry permit. He was “highly intoxicated” and had a loaded gun on him, police said, so he was charged with carrying a weapon while intoxicated.

Woman Says Teens Threw Rocks at Home, Shouted Obscenities

A woman reported that a group of teens threw rocks at her home and shouted obscenities just before 8 p.m. April 12 near the 3900 block of Orchard Road. The kids ran away and police were not able to locate suspects.
