The 30th Annual Roxboro Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, May 19 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Roxboro Elementary School, 2405 Roxboro Road in Cleveland Heights.
Hosted by the Roxboro Elementary PTA, this year’s festival is expected to bring together more than 400 people from across the Heights community to celebrate the arts, our schools, and our children. It promises to be a full-filled afternoon for children of all ages, with hands-on arts and crafts activities, games, music, dancing, and food from variety of local restaurants and cafes, including Mr. Brisket, Mitchell’s Ice Cream, Guy’s Pizza, and more.
There will be also an arts and crafts sale featuring the work of local artists, and a plant sale hosted by the Roxboro Middle School.
Key attractions at this year’s event will include an installation by world-renowned “lego guy” Arthur Gugick, the Euclid Beach Rocket Car, and a variety of live entertainment, including local guitarist Eric Paetz, a Heights High Jazz Ensemble, and other musical guests.
Thanks to the generous donations of this year’s sponsors – RoxArts, The Cleveland Center for Eating Disorders, The Cleveland Heights Library, Skye Group, Stan Harris State Farm Insurance, The Beard Group, Sirrah Transportation, Lustrious Designs, Zagara’s, System 4, and Justin Horton – admission to this year’s Roxboro Arts Festival has been reduced to $2 per child (adults as always are admitted free of charge). More About Roxboro Elementary School
Roxboro Elementary School was founded in 1901 and has been at its current location since 1921. The Roxboro Elementary School motto, "Respect, Responsibility and Ready to Learn," is displayed on posters by entrances throughout the school. Students see it when they walk in and leave each day, serving as a reminder of the academic and behavioral expectations of the Roxboro staff.
Like other schools in the district, there is now a SMART Board in every classroom and a room designated for science. This year, Roxboro added a Mandarin Chinese language class as part of its regular curriculum. Both the elementary school and the middle school next door offer RoxArts, a program that provides classes in music, dance and fine arts and opportunities to attend cultural events and performances.
