Christmas Bird Count
The Christmas Bird Count is a long-standing program of the National Audubon Society, with over 100 years of citizen involvement. Come join us for a bird walk to located and identify our resident winter birds. Stay for the day (bring a lunch) or just the morning. This is a free event, but please pre-register by calling (216) 321-5935. A $5 optional fee supports compilation and publication of the data. Participants who pay will receive a copy of the issue of American Birds that summarizes the results and includes articles on trends and regions.
More About Nature Center At Shaker Lakes
The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes was built in 1966, keeping Shaker Parklands from becoming a freeway connecting Cleveland's Eastside to Downtown Cleveland. Citizens in the community joined together and fought the proposed Clark-Lee Freeway and now the Nature Center has been designated as a natural green-space. The mission of this establishment is to connect people with nature. It teaches children about nature through many classes, programs, workshops and school field trips. Places in the grounds can be rented for private banquets, parties or meetings.
