The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve Presents the Craft Exhibition

The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve (AAWR) announces an exciting upcoming new exhibition, Craft Exhibition, which will be on display in the AAWR gallery from August 3, 2012 through August 30, 2012. The public is invited to attend the free art exhibition as well as the opening reception which will be on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The Craft Exhibition will feature artwork in the ‘craft’ category such as metal, jewelry, pottery/ceramics, fabric, glass, wood, and functional paper art. Seventeen local artists will be featured in the show. The artists include Catherine Butler, Sarah Clague, Stephanie Craig, David Deming, Bette Drake, Boni Suzanne Gelfand, Elise Newman, Larry Owen, Hollis Richardson, Ingeborg Richter, George Roby, Richard Schneider, David Shafron, Susan Skove, Sr. Charlotte Trenkamp, Mary Ann Weber, and Barbara Yoxall. All work displayed will be available for sale.

Distinguished sculptor David Deming selected the works to be displayed in the exhibition. Deming is also the retired president of the Cleveland Institute of Art. The AAWR’s executive director, Kenneth R. Goerg, was pleased that so many fine local artists were selected to be included in the show, noting that “The Artists Archives is pleased to have this opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to promoting a wide variety of types of artists and artworks.”

The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve is a unique archival facility created to preserve representative bodies of work created by Ohio visual artists. A “living archive”, the AAWR has frequent exhibitions at its modern facility in University Circle. The Artists Archives serves as this region’s repository for artists looking for a place to preserve their work while making their work accessible to the public.

The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve is located at 1834 E 123rd Street in University Circle, right off Euclid Avenue and across from Lake View Cemetery. Free parking is available in the lot in front of the building and all along E 123rd Street. For further information, call 216-721-9020.
