Inaugural Chili Cook-Off

The City of Cleveland Heights Division of Parks and Recreation and the Recreation Advisory Board are pleased to announce the Inaugural Chili Cook-Off at the Cleveland Heights Community Center on Saturday, November 3rd

The event will be a fundraiser for the Heights Youth Recreation Fund which provides scholarships and reduced rates for Cleveland Heights youth to participate in Cleveland Heights Recreation programs and leagues. 

The Chili Cook-Off will feature a variety of recipes and a spirited, but friendly, competition from the following Cleveland Heights and University Heights businesses:

  1. Barle Soup and Sandwich            
  2. Brennan’s Colony Pub
  3. Cedar Lee Pub
  4. Inn on Coventry
  5. New Heights Grill
  6. O’Rielly’s Pub
  7. Rockefeller’s
  8. Tommy’s
  9. Zagara’s 

The Chili Cook-Off will feature the following:

  • Chili samples from the participating businesses, plus beverages
  • A children’s menu
  • A play room for children and gym availability for adults
  • Celebrity judges
  • A raffle with exciting prizes, including an iPod Nano, Barnes & Noble Nook, new bicycle, Community Center passes and a Tiger Nation gift basket
  • FREE parking and shuttle to Heights High School if the football team has a home playoff game that same evening 

Ticket prices will be $10.00 for adults; $5.00 for students, high school and under; and $20.00 for families.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the participating businesses and at the Cleveland Heights Community Center beginning Monday, October 1st.

The Cleveland Heights Community Center, located at Monticello Boulevard at Mayfield Road, houses recreational facilities as well as the Senior Activity Center. The complex opened about 10 years ago and provides residents with two ice rinks, including a year-round, Olympic-sized rink, multi-purpose meeting rooms, rooms for private parties and banquets, basketball courts, a fitness center and an indoor track. In addition, summer day camp programs and ice skating lessons are offered at the center.
