Reach Out and Meet a Shelter Pet
We’ve all seen cute animals on the internet. But have you ever really met one?
The Ad Council, along with The Humane Society of the United States and Maddie’s Fund®, have recently launched a new series of Public Service Advertisements (PSAs) that allow you to reach out and meet a playful, adorable pet. The PSAs showcase the personalities of real-life adopted shelter dogs and cats who lick or paw at the screen to reach pet lovers on the other side.

The ads are part of The Shelter Pet Project, which launched in 2009 and has since made a tremendous impact on changing people’s perceptions of shelter animals. The campaign has helped to reduce euthanasia rates in shelters by 12 percent. Sadly though, 2.7 million healthy and treatable pets still need our help each year.
Please share the PSAs to let people know how they can meet a shelter pet who could ultimately change their lives. You can find more details about the campaign at TheShelterPetProject.org, where you can search available pets by zip code, read adoption success stories and learn valuable information about pet adoption.
