Cleveland Heights officially became a city in 1921. Cleveland Heights Patch is by compiling 90 photos to create an album of the city's past and present. We'll run the feature for 90 days, one photo at a time.
Today's photo of the Wax Stacks and Story Tape stores near Meadowbrook and Lee roads illustrate more than defunct businesses. The photo shows how much technology has altered entertainment in the last 20 years.
Wax Stacks was known for its massive, eclectic selection of music, while Story Tape inventory included videos of independent and foreign films. The photo was taken around 1992, when music and movies were on compact discs and videos. Nowadays, downloads are replacing hard copies of content, and the internet is slowly killing brick-and-mortar entertainment stores.
By the way, I'm looking for photos from Gifts of Athena. If anyone has some to share, please upload them, or send them to me so I can include in the series.
