Cheap (Family) Date: Maple Syrup, Music at Patterson

Triple Tap event set for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Patterson Fruit Farm

Check back every Friday for Cheap Date: one weekend event or activity that won't break the bank.

The Western Reserve Land Conservancy is inviting families to celebrate spring, and maple syrup, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday at Patterson Fruit Farm.

The Triple Tap event will feature hay rides where people can learn how maple trees are tapped for syrup, a bonfire and an opportunity for folks to taste the syrup (with pancakes of course.) Musician Brent Kirby, who was voted one of the Plain Dealer's "25 Acts to Watch" in 2011, will entertain guests. The land conservancy will also provide hot dogs, fixings and non-alcoholic beverages. The event is free, but they ask that people bring donations for the Land Convervancy, which "seeks to preserve the scenic beauty, rural character and natural resources of northern Ohio," according to a press release about the event. They also ask that families bring one potluck item to contribute. Adults are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
