Number of Victims in Doctor Rape Case Keeps Growing


The number of victims who claim they were sexually assaulted by a former Stow doctor has grown to nearly 50.

A total 49 victims, all female, have come forward claiming they were sexually assaulted by James P. Bressi, 59, of 2468 Victoria Parkway, Hudson, OH, according to Stow Police records.

Avon Lake’s council president as well as several of his peers and residents expressed frustration at the lack of action taken by city leaders in addressing the deer problem.

Councilman Martin O’Donnell commented after Mayor Greg Zilka said from January through the end of August this year, 65 deer carcasses have been collected many of them killed by car collisions.  A helicopter survey in March determined there were between 195-225 deer in the city.

Heroin, Cash Seized in Cuyahoga Falls Drug Bust

Three men are in custody and face felony heroin-trafficking charges after Cuyahoga Falls police investigated a suspicious incident on Sept. 13 in the Studio City apartment complex.

After responding to 2255 Winter Pkwy. at about 4 a.m., officers deduced that drug activity was allegedly taking place in a nearby apartment and called in the Summit County Drug Task Force to assist, said Cuyahoga Falls Police Lt. Steve Guldeman.

A warrant to search the apartment was obtained and executed, which led to the arrests and the seizure of 11 grams of heroin and $11,000 in cash.

Pair With Down Syndrome Nominated For Homecoming King, Queen

A high school duo is basking in the glow of their peers’ approval this week, and are awaiting final voting to see if they are Westlake High School’s next homecoming king and queen.

And while they have a likely shot at those coveted crowns, they share a trait most high school students would struggle with: Both have Down syndrome.

Mentor Senior Earns Perfect ACT Test Score

Just a week after being named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, a Mentor senior achieved another rare feat.

Dylan Linville has earned a perfect score on the ACT test.Iowa City-based ACT told Dylan's family, who then passed the news on to the Mentor school district this week. Dylan's 36 score is an accomplishment that less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the test reach, according to the organization.

Vanderbilt Kicker, Mayfield Alum Casey Spear Named to Allstate Good Works Team

A former Mayfield Wildcat has been recognized nationally for his work outside of the classroom and away from the football field.

Casey Spear, a 2010 Mayfield High School graduate, was named to the 2013 Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, which honors student-athletes in the NCAA for their volunteer work. Spear is the kicker for Vanderbilt University.


Kent State to Acquire Vacant Former Frat House for Esplanade Expansion


Land moves involving Kent State University’s Esplanade continue despite the fact the pathway linking campus to downtown itself is largely finished.

Today the university’s board of trustees agreed to a deal with the Delta Upsilon KSU alumni chapter that will eventually see the Kent State Foundation and its roughly 100 staff members relocated into a new facility somewhere in the vicinity of campus.

The agreement between the university and fraternity group will see the vacant former frat house at 202 S. Lincoln St., which is owned by the Delta Upsilon alumni chapter, exchanged for land owned by the university at 1061 Fraternity Circle, a building that currently houses about one third of the foundation staff.

Fairlawn Police Investigate Shooting on Busy Road


Fairlawn police are looking into an unusual shooting incident Monday afternoon at the intersection of Ridgewood and Miller roads.

Detective Sgt. Randy Bartlett said there are conflicting witness statements about what happened at the intersection, but here's what police know so far:

A man walked up to a mid-size black car that was stopped on Miller Road at the Ridgewood intersection and fired several shots from a handgun.
