Forrest the Dog, Once Shot, Left for Dead, Will Appear at PAWS Benefit

The Ohio Public Animal Welfare Society will hold a benefit concert with a special appearance by a dog that was shot and left for dead in a Cleveland Heights Park.

Forrest, a bull mastiff, was found in Forest Hill Park by a professional dog walker and rescued by PAWS. Later, he was adopted into a Solon home.

Now Forrest has become a mascot for efforts in Ohio by PAWS and other animal rights activists to make animal cruelty a felony in Ohio.

The family-friendly benefit will be at the Negative Space Gallery Feb. 16 from 7 to 11 p.m. featuring the band Second Hand Dogs as well as performers Jerry Allen, Gary Hall, and Jason Meyers, accompanied by Laura Simna and Chelsea Nicole.

The event will also include a raffle, refeshments, adoption information and more.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for those aged 13 to 20 and children under 12 get in free. Bring a new pet item or pet food for $2 off admission.

The venue is located on the 2nd floor of the Asian Town Center at 3820 Superior Ave. in Cleveland and is handicap accessible. Free parking and entrance is off E. 38th Street.
