Get Out: Roy Zimmerman Performs, Contact Sheet Exhibit at Heights Arts and a Free Play

Enjoy these fun activities in and around the Heights

Where/When: / Sunday at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Armed with an acoustic guitar, liberal funnyman Roy Zimmerman performs his satirical songs about everything from gay marriage to tax breaks for the rich.

Where/ When: / Gallery runs through Oct. 22, Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, 1:30 to 9:30 p.m. Closed Sunday.

Why Go: The contact sheet — a sheet of photographic cells that film photographers would use to choose their best shot — are on the verge of extinction, but the Heights Arts Gallery will have dozens on display. The pieces include headshots of hopeful starlets to anonymous subjects in portrait studios.

THE CORN IS GREEN

Where/When:/ Friday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: A dramatic staged reading of Emlyn William’s semi-autobiographical play, The Corn is Green, will be performed courtesy of the Bodwin Theatre Company of Cleveland Heights. The play is about a teacher in Wales at the turn of the last century and her efforts to mold one student into an Oxford scholar.

HBA OF GREATER CLEVELAND GREEN HOME TOUR

Where/When: Multiple locations/ Saturday and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Take a tour of several homes featuring the latest in sustainability practices, design trends and construction technology. Choose to tour homes in Solon, Bainbridge, Concord Township or Hinckley.

HAUNTED PRISON

Where/When: Ohio State Reformatory Historic Site, 100 Reformatory Road (OH 545) just north of U.S. Route 30 in Mansfield. Opens Friday, 7 p.m. to midnight. Normal hours will be Thursday 7 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday 7 p.m. to midnight and Sunday 7 to 10 p.m.

Why Go: The scariest prison on Earth opens for the Halloween season Friday. The shuttered Mansfield prison has been featured on the shows “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Aventurers” and becomes the perfect place to get your fright on!
