Dobama Fundraiser Honors Cleveland Heights Playwright Eric Coble

Excerpts from Coble's plays about Cleveland will be read during Dobamarama 2013

Dobama Theatre will celebrate its artists' influences around the country and around the globe with its annual fundraiser Dobamarama, featuring local playwright Eric Coble.

"Where in the World is Dobama Theatre?" will be June 14 at 7 p.m. at the Ariel International Center, 1163 E. 40th Street, Cleveland.

The 2013 Dobmarama will feature scenes from award-winning playwright Eric Coble's plays Ten Minutes From Cleveland and Ten More Minutes From Cleveland.

Coble, also a Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education member, made his Broadway debut last year with The Velocity of Autumn.

“Maybe they were just being polite,” Coble said in a statement from Dobama, “but we've premiered six plays together over the years. This was my first artistic home, and as I write scripts now for theaters all over the country, I still write them to be performed in a cave-like basement [in Dobama's former location] on Coventry.  It's a thrill to see what Dobama has become and to be a small part of that becoming.”

Tickets are $85 and can be purchased online at www.dobama.org.
