About Kounterclockwise:
Deacon Burns (Cleveland, OH) and Kaya Rogue (New York City) met and formed Kounterclockwise in 2001 in heart of the South Bronx, birthplace of Hip-Hop. They started developing their unique style while working with and doing production work for several artists including DJ Swamp, Source, and Yela Wolf to name a few. Burns and Kaya scored the music for the full-length feature film “Love Rome” by Carter B. Smith and several of their beats are featured on the television show “Skate Maps.”
Kounterclockwise had the interest of some major and Indie labels when they decided to take a short break from the expenses of NYC living and spend some time with family in Cleveland, en route to fulfilling their dreams with a big move to California. On November 17, 2007 everything took a wrong turn when Mr. Burns had a tragic accident – breaking 5 vertebrae, several ribs, collapsed both lungs, and had a hairline neck fracture. He suffered a severe spinal cord injury that resulted in paralysis of both legs. It has been three years since that tragic day and the two of them are continuing to heal, their bond becoming closer and stronger then ever. They are now finally ready to share their music and with renewed inspiration are ready to put on some amazing shows. Their first album, “Daylight Saving Time” will be released November 6, 2011 on Daylight Savings.
