Why Go: This Grammy award-winning band features music from classical and jazz to bluegrass and African music, electric blues and Eastern European folk dances. Led by banjoist Bela Fleck, the band has been playing their unique sound since 1988.

Why Go: For 33 years, Dobama Theatre has featured plays written by children and teens in grades 1 through 12 in this weekend festival. Local actors, directors, designers and technicians produce 10 to 15 of the plays. A fourth-grader from , Aislinn Hunter, was one of the winners, and her play Full Moon Disaster will be included in the festival. Another student from Gearity, second-grader Maple Buescher, received honorable mention for her play Humph! Said the Camel. This year's festival is dedicated to , an original member of the Dobama Theatre Company.

Why Go: This annual benefit for the Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland will feature food from the restaurant, as well as live jazz on the patio from Karizma.

Why Go: A panel of senior citizens, all having surpassed their 80th birthdays, will comprise a panel where they will discuss life from their points of view. The moderator will be Ruby Terry, former executive director of the Greater Cleveland United Black Fund.

BECKY BOYD & THE NATURALS AT HOUSE OF SWING
Where/When: House of Swing, South Euclid/ Friday, 9:30 p.m.
Why Go: Cleveland favorite Becky Boyd has been a mainstay at area clubs for more than 30 years. She’s been nominated several times as best vocalist in the former Cleveland Free Times and in Cleveland Scene, and has also won several vocalist awards such as the Savannah Night Club "Favorite Vocalist of the Year" award.

THE LURE OF PAINTED POETRY: JAPANESE AND KOREAN ART
Where/When: The Cleveland Museum of Art/ All weekend and through the end of August
Why Go: The Cleveland Museum of Art has long prided itself on an extensive Asian art collection, and this exhibit showcases more than 100 pieces of poetry and paintings from Japan and Korea from the late 14th Century.
