10th ANNIVERSARY “SONG IS YOU!” SEASON

Why Go: The Musical Theater Project, a Lakewood-based group performing Broadway and Hollywood musicals, takes its show on the road to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Songs include a classic score by Rodgers and Hammerstein, a tribute to Fred Astaire, swing music from the ’30s and ’40s and more.

STAGED READING OF “IMAGINING MADOFF”
Where/When: / Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
Why Go: This play takes us inside the mind of imprisoned Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff as he attempts to set the record straight during daily interviews with a biographer.
Price: Free (although donations are appreciated)
PREMIERE OF TUBSHARK
Where/When: / Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m.
Why Go: Cleveland sketch comedy group TubShark will perform its inaugural show featuring mixed media blending sketch, audience interaction, stand-up, video and music. The group began in April and performs original work in the vein of Kids in the Hall, Second City and Mr. Show.
Where/When: Quicken Loans Arena/ Saturday at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.)
Why Go: Food Network’s Ted Allen hosts as four new chefs vie for the title of Top Chef in this third annual event. Celebrity chefs, including Regan Reik from Pier W and last year’s winner, will crown the 2011 winner. Those who attend also get to eat and judge.
Chefs will include Michael Nowak from Bar Cento in Ohio City, Rob Records from Johnny’s in Downtown Cleveland, Sarah Sherapita from Luxe in Cleveland and Jonathan Guest from Washington Place Bistro in Little Italy. Proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit Women’s and Children’s Services and Community Outreach.
Price: $1000 for four tickets up to $10,000 for 20 tickets and VIP treatment (including intervals in between).
Where/When: Cleveland Browns Stadium/ Saturday at noon
Why Go: In the first of what is likely to be many outings, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will kick off a football game between North Carolina Central University and Central State University, two historically black colleges. A Greek Step Show will premiere Friday at 7 p.m. at the Musical Hall in Cleveland Convention Center, 500 Lakeside Ave.
