Heights Youth Theatre to Present 'A Little Princess'

Heights Youth Theatre will launch its first production of the year next week, "A Little Princess."

The musical's first date is 7 p.m. Friday at Wiley Middle School. The showing marks the Ohio premier of the musical created by Andrew Lippa and Brian Crawley.

Pierre-Jacques Brault will direct the play, and Joanna Li will direct the music. The musical is based on the novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

According to HYT, the musical "follows the story of a young daughter of a wealthy adventurer who is sent to a boarding school in Victorian England, but soon finds adventure is also in her blood.

"When the girl learns of reports of her father's death, her life takes a turn and she is forced to become a servant."

The production will be presented again at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Jan. 19, 20, 26 and 27. The only other 7 p.m. showing is on Jan. 25.

Tickets cost $10 for general admission and $9 for seniors and children, ages six and younger. HYT accepts cash and checks only. The box office opens 45 minutes before the show.
