What Film Would Get Your Vote for Best Picture?

What do Ohio Patch readers want to see win?

Award season has officially begun.

The nominees for the 2012 Academy Awards were announced earlier this morning. There are nine films in the running this year, and all are movies that have received a decent amount of press. You can read more about the nominees on The Huffington Post.

That doesn’t mean everyone’s going to be pleased with the choices.

What do you think? Did your favorite get a nod, or was it passed by? Tell us why in the comments.

My kids and I loved Hugo, an EXCELLENT film based on the equally excellent, Caldecott-award-winning book, "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" by Brian Selznick. I didn't know HOW they would translate this very visual book into an effective film, but the cinematography was lovely and the storyline stayed close to the book. That said, my kids and I also loved War Horse. I don't think I've ever seen so many of the Oscar-nominated films BEFORE they were nominated!

The Help is my guess. We all could use a bit of humor and fun these days!

Wow, I'm out of the loop :-( I read the Help, does that count? I can't tell you the last "grown up" movie I got to see at the theater.

I haven't seen any of them either, Kristin. My vote was for Harry Potter and it's not even on the list! :)

50/50 got snubbed by the Academy. It was the best movie I saw in 2011.
