Today's photo of My Maryland, a 1939 production at , illustrates the city's commitment to the arts. The theater was founded by who became the first American to earn a doctorate in theater. In 1942, Family Circle magazine lauded the theater as being the "only municipally owned and operated outdoor theatre of its kind in the United States."
