Bites Nearby: Dewey's Pizza

Cool sounds, great pies and tasty microbrews satisfy the senses on Lee Road

— Music goes with pizza like, well, almost anything else and pizza (yes, pizza goes with everything, like black slacks). But Dewey’s Pizza on Lee Road makes the music-pie fusion particularly special.

Founder Andrew E. DeWitt is an accomplished guitarist and former band member. So he personally assembles the music played in his mellow, full-service restaurants. You’re likely to hear anything from Aimee Mann to reggae to Death Cab for Cutie coming out of the speakers.

These distinctive, non-Muzak tunes add to the contemporary ambiance in the unfussy and spacious dining room, which is accented with small silver metallic light fixtures

At Dewey’s you can choose one of their specialty stone-baked pizzas or create your own by choosing from the yummy sauces and ample toppings provided. Or, try one of five salads such as the Candied Walnut and Grape concoction.

Well-crafted microbrews on tap include Rogue “Dead Guy Ale” from Oregon and New Hampshire’s Smuttynose Old Brown Dog.  There’s also a tidy and functional international wine list.
