Bites Nearby: Guarino's

Serving southern Italian dishes for 93 years

With lace-covered tables inside and a lush garden patio outside, the long-standing has been a fixture in Little Italy for almost a century.

As one of Cleveland’s oldest restaurants, this Mayfield Road eatery pleases those who relish a trip into the past, especially in the dining rooms decorated like the private residence the building once was.

The menu features most of the dishes one might expect, from calamari and prosciutto-wrapped shrimp appetizers to popular entrées.

The veal ossobucco is baked in brandy and vegetables and served with risotto. Seafood pasta comes with shrimp, scallops, and clams sautéed in marinara or olive oil.

Guarino’s also offers a range of sandwiches, such as a meatball or sausage sub and a veal Parmagiana sandwich.
