Valentine's Day is opening day for Rockefeller's main room

Chances are, if you were a favorite of John D. Rockefeller back in the day, he might have given you roses on Valentine’s Day. Perhaps a truckload or two. But the restaurant named Rockefeller’s has a different kind of treat in store starting this Feb. 14.

That’s when owner Michael Adams opens the main room of his new establishment in the (originally built by John D. Jr.), at the corner of Lee Boulevard and Mayfield Road. This opening follows, which features its own menu.

The restaurant proper is set up to be a fine dining experience, with dishes crafted by executive chef Jill Vedaa, who formerly delighted area palates at Lola and the Flying Fig.

Entrée items include scallops with tomato bacon chutney and braised greens, and duck breast with sweet potato jo jo along with hot and sour bok choy. There are also nine appetizers to choose from, including an enticing-sounding short ribs chimichurri with crispy shaved potatoes.

And it’s all served to you in the midst of what was once a branch of the Cleveland Trust Company, complete with oak banking tables, a hand-carved fireplace and a kitchen ensconced in what used to be the bank vault.
