Bites Nearby: The Tavern Company

Kick back in the casual fun of The Tavern Company

— A neighborhood pub should be a friendly place where, as they say, everyone knows your name. So you could try visiting The Tavern Company on Lee Road a couple times and see how they do in the name game.

There are plenty of reasons to settle into The Tavern. They have various events going on every week, such as trivia contests and karaoke nights.

But if all you want is some pub food, they have plenty of that. Small plates include flatbread with wild mushrooms, sundried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella.

Or you can opt for the mussels with roasted garlic, bacon, tomatoes and grilled bread.

The sandwich selection is more than ample, highlighted by pulled short ribs with horseradish and crispy onions, or a house-made veggie burger with smoked paprika and tarragon aioli and spinach on a multigrain roll.

There are also “big plates” and a five-item kids’ menu (meaning the one thing your kid eats will probably be on it).

As for specials, The Tavern Company suggests “2 Dine 4 the $ of 1” with its Wednesday and Thursday offering: two small salads, two select dinners and a pitcher of Moosehead or a bottle of house wine for $30. And on Mondays, you can pick up a cheeseburger, fries and a beer or a glass of wine for $9.

Whether they remember your name or not, you should remember theirs: The Tavern Company.
