Club Opens in Coventry's Centrum Theatre

Club Centrum features big screen projection, no cover before midnight

Coventry Road has a new dance club.

Club Centrum opened earlier this month in the space formerly occupied by Fracas, below the theatre that housed comedy club Big Dog Theatre until late last year.

The club features top 40 dance music and a few microbrews alongside its full bar and domestic drafts.

The draw, said general manager Dan Lesniak, is the huge projection screen and lighting system that accompanies the music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

He even noted that the DJs can slow down the speed of the music 45 minutes before closing time to help usher customers out. ("You'd be surprised how well it works," he added.)

The club is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. with no cover before midnight. It's 21-and-up for men and 18-and-up for women.

Thursday night is 18 and up for guys with a $5 cover charge.

Find the club's Facebook page here.

Great job, Mayor!!!
------------- December 6, 2012 Mayor Kelley Reacts to Big Dog Theater's Closing ... Though the Centrum building also houses City & East hookah bar, Kelley said he is hopeful that property owner Coventry Holdings LLC can find a new tenant. "The city stands ready and willing to work with the owner of the building," he said. http://clevelandheights.patch.com/articles/mayor-kelley-reacts-to-big-dog-theater-s-closing

I've always loved the fanciful lighting on the Centrum's marquee ... except when a bunch of the light bulbs are out, which can make the place look downtrodden. I hope in the future the dead bulbs will be replaced quickly. This historic building and the Coventry district deserve it.

Very important 1st Amendment freedom was protected at that building.
*That's* the CH I long for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacobellis_v._Ohio

I agree. I had even been tempted to start a blog just before this new and "improved"Read More layout. No longer interested in doing that - can't find anything on this patch.

That's odd. I was at the previous meeting, my first - on Global Warming, paid dues for the firstRead More time ever, wrote down my e-mail more than once, and still had no idea there was a meeting was last night.

Location is on Ormond Road, between Lee and South Taylor (the Heights main library is on the corner)

Diane, for what it's worth, I believe FutureHeights has announced their intention to have a meetingRead More where the community can discuss ideas for Severance.

Along those lines, Diane, I thought an indoor greenhouse would be a good idea. Classes on how toRead More create gardens, grow food, store and preserve food would be an asset to the City.

Diane H. Dreizen & bachtobroadway42 - what interesting ideas! I'd love to see the whole messRead More raised and the area turned into a public park/recreation area with walking trails, bicycle paths, community gardens, etc. It seems the wind turbines could be in a place like that too. That's my dream, but we'll probably get some hideous redundant commercial development instead.

Just ignore them then. The important thing is what we're talking about HERE.

Please join the conversation. The proposed school bond would be a timely starting point!
