Hessler On The Heights Returns At Permanent Location On Lee Road

Local artists are creating community by offering one-of-a-kind art and workshops at their new gift shop and gallery

Wish the Hessler Street Fair lasted all year?

Wish fulfilled.

Local artists first experimented with a special pop-up shop, Hessler for the Holidays, during the holiday season.

Now the same artistic cooperative has re-opened the gallery and gift shop on 2174 Lee Road, so people can get their favorite street fair ware year-round.

The newly dubbed Hessler on the Heights sells clothing, cards and journals, teas, salsa, soaps and more -- all made by local artists.

Furthermore, Hessler on the Heights has started a wellness center that offers massages, yoga sessions and more.

The artists also host workshops for hula-hoop workouts, juggling, puppetry and much more, according to the Heights Observer. They also have weekly drum circles that are open to the public and free to participate in.

People can get more information on upcoming workshops and events on the Hessler on the Heights Facebook page.

"We’re having a huge event this weekend, starting Saturday evening with a Meet & Greet reception for our new featured artist, Robin Anne Payne," said Michelle Sokol -- one of the artists behind the gallery.

"Robin is an amazing artist and so versatile, we can’t even begin to put her into just one category. She’ll be doing hands-on workshops on Sunday; and, at 2 p.m., we’ll be having one of our Heights-famous drum circles."

The goal of Hessler on the Heights extends beyond drum circles and selling art.

The slogan of the co-op is "Local Artists Creating Community," and they hope their workshops, gallery and other initiatives will bring people together.

Hessler on the Heights is open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 7:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
