Piccadilly To Offer Organic and Vegan Yogurt Options on Coventry

New shop, opening in former Grog Shop space, will use repurposed wood from legendary local music venue

If Adrian and Cosmin Bota were going to pursue their dream of opening a yogurt shop, they were going to do it right.

To the Romanian-born brothers who spent every Saturday in their teens working alongside local, fresh food vendors at the West Side Market, the right way is organic, local and with an emphasis on Cleveland's revival.

And Saturday, the brothers will see their dream come to life.

The Bota brothers will open Piccadilly Artisan Yogurt this Saturday on Coventry Road.

The shop will offer only organic yogurt, and though the brothers had to go to California to find a dairy that offers it, they eventually hope to partner with a local dairy to have it sourced nearby.

Adrian Bota said that the shop will churn the yogurt, mixing it with fresh, local organic fruit, right in the store.

"It's a completely different taste," he said.

Piccadily will also be the only shop in the midwest to provide vegan coconut milk yogurt.

The shop's furniture and counter is built almost entirely of repurposed wood, including the shop's centerpiece: a bar-style table made from the Grog Shop's wooden doors.

And on the walls, the Botas have hung art created by students from the Cleveland Institute of Art. They intend to change the art regularly and host exhibit openings in the store.

Piccadilly, 1767 Coventry Road, opens Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Its regular hours will be Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 9 p.m.

Customers who use Facebook check-in at the store Saturday get half off.
