Second Meeting for Cedar Taylor Business District Monday

The cities of Cleveland Heights and University Heights and business owners will gather to discuss safety and promoting the district

Representatives from the cities of Cleveland Heights and University Heights are meeting with business owners near Cedar and South Taylor roads Monday to discuss branding the district, security and streetscape improvements.

, and business owners said that parking and crime were their primary concerns, the speed bumps to developing the area.

Howard Thompson, economic development director for Cleveland Heights, was at the last meeting, and said that police representatives from both cities will be at this meeting to address the safety concerns of residents and businesses in the area.

Ideas for marketing the district, including planning special events and activities, will also be discussed, Thompson said.  

Alex Quintana, who owns and is a co-chair on the Heights Independent Business Alliance, said at the last meeting he didn't want to just focus on parking and security in the area.

"These are just growing pains and that's great," Quintana said. "People are going to talk afterwards about parking, but I don't want to end there. Let's go forward and make this 'Cedar Taylor.'"

The meeting will be at from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21. Thompson said residents and business owners are invited to attend. 

A meeting for businesses and residents in the Noble/Nela area will also be next week on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the
