Benefits of a High School Competition Pool

If Issue 81, the CH-UH school facilities bond issue, passes on Nov. 5, our community will enjoy the benefit of a new competition indoor swimming pool at Heights High. While this pool will be the same length as the current outdated pool (25 yards), it will have 8 lanes instead of 6, and will be deep enough at the deep end to use the 3-meter diving board in competition. The current pool's deep end isn't big enough to safely use the 3-meter board.

And while you may have heard that we're building an Olympic pool, we're not. An Olympic pool is more than twice the length (50 meters or almost 55 yards) of a high school competition pool. What our new pool will have is easier community access, clean modern locker rooms, and easy-to-navigate stands (our current bleachers are steeper than would be allowed under current state requirements).
