Group Zeroes in on Key Issues

After Saturday's meeting and various emails, I have identified these key issues. Issue 2 is set and work has begun. Please comment on the other issues under their respective articles. To add an issue, comment here.

KEY ISSUES

1.  Unresponsive City Hall      Action:
           Departments             Change Council Structure
           Council Members       Charter Initiative -
                                           7 Council Members
                                           4 Chosen by Wards
                                           3 Chosen at Large
                                           Term limits - 2-3 (Total 8-12 years)
                                           New Mayor each year
                                               (After 1 year, Vice Mayor
                                                becomes Mayor and council
votes for a new vice mayor)

2.  Defeat School Levy         Action:
                                         Mobilize grassroots effort
                                             Group discussions set up
                                                 throughout city
                                             Flyers distributed door-to-door
                                              Posters

3.  City Finances - audit        Action:
                                         Create Team to perform a
                                                   Citizens' Audit

4.  Review City Charter - last done 1982 (?)

5.  Section 8 in Cleveland Heights
      - Investigate how city implements/accommodates this
            voucher program
      - Pros and Cons to Residents
      - Complaints w/documented support (pictures, video,
             police records)

6.  Create support for specific groups of citizens
Elderly:  - What happened to the Chore Program?
                 - Better access to Community Center
Oxford-Noble Neighborhood - area north of Mayfield; east of Taylor to Monticello, then areas east of Selwyn.  City officials, in action and words, place very little value on these two neighborhoods, with the exception of the Inglewood District and the new Bluestone development (both areas of which, historically, are part of the Noble Neighborhood).
