UPDATE Severe Thunderstorms, Large Hail, Winds Expected

National Weather Service issues flood watch, wind advisory

Updated 4:10 p.m. Tuesday

The sun is shining now, but the National Weather Service has warned that large hail and high winds could accompany severe thunderstorms expected across the region this afternoon and into tonight.

Heavy rain is expected to continue into tonight and, with an already saturated ground, could cause flooding in the area.

Cuyahoga County is under a flood watch until late Wednesday night and a wind advisory until 10 tonight. Winds could reach 40 or 45 miles per hour, the NWS warns.

This week’s forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms through Thursday, and by Wednesday the NWS predicts up to 3 or 4 inches of rain accumulation, with more in some areas.

Temperatures should stay warm this week: highs are in the mid-70s today. Wednesday calls for a high of 71. Beginning Thursday and into the weekend temperatures will drop slightly into the 50s and low 60s again but the NWS predicts ample sunshine.
