Five Things You Need to Know About Cleveland Heights This Week

Public hearings, football event and more

1. The City of Cleveland Heights is holding a public hearing at 7 p.m. today in City Hall to talk to residents and get their input about a zoning code that sets regulations for the reuse of existing non-residential buildings in residential districts, such as what has happened with the former . 

2.  The Cleveland Heights Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in City Hall and review the change to the zoning code that would permit adaptive reuse of non-residential buildings in residential districts.

3. The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library is accepting submissions for its 4th Annual , "Focus on the World" from Sept. 5 to Oct. 14. The finalists will be displayed as a traveling exhibition at each branch starting Oct. 31 so that the public can vote for their favorites. Five prizes will be awarded to the best overall photographs, and winners will be announced Dec. 5.

4. The Rush for a Cause is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday in Broadview Heights. Cleveland Heights kids are among several players on the 174 Youth football teams, both flag and tackle, that will compete in this event. Proceeds go toward supporting injured athletes and promoting injury prevention. 

5. Parents who want to register their children in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District should stop by the , formerly Taylor Academy on 14780 Superior Road, where the registration offices are now located. For more information, call 216-371-7430.
