Five Things You Need to Know About Cleveland Heights This Week

Run for the Fallen, public hearings about Community Development Block Grant money and more

1. Cleveland Heights City Council will meet at 7:30 tonight in City Hall. Members will likely that would allow more types of industries to use vacant buildings like churches, schools and libraries in the city. 

2. The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District is celebrating the new  with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The former Taylor Academy, 14780 Superior Road, will house alternative education programs and the district’s registration offices. 

3. Citizens For Oakwood, a group of the former Oakwood Country Club, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the to provide details about the referendum campaign and discuss other issues surrounding Oakwood.

4. The Run for the Fallen will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Shaker Lakes Park. The annual 5K race is in remembrance of those lost during operation Iraqi Freedom. After the race, the Tavern Co. will offer drink discounts. For more information, call Kyle Beattie, 937-441-7380.

5. There will be two public hearings for residents to provide input on how money from the Community Development Block Grant is in Cleveland Heights. The first is at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, and the second is Aug. 23.
