President James A. Garfield Wreath Laying Ceremony

Help celebrate President James A. Garfield’s heritage and his 181th birthday on Nov. 17th with a wreath laying ceremony (2:00 p.m.). Brigadier General Alton G. Berry, Commanding General of the 88th Regional Support Command, keynote speaker, will place a wreath at the monument on behalf of the President of the United States.  He will be assisted by Mr. Rudolph H. Garfield, great grandson of President Garfield.  Mr. Tom Garfield, the great, great, great grandson of the President will play Amazing Grace on the bagpipes as the wreath is escorted into the monument.  Additional Garfield family members will be present for the ceremony.
