Acclaimed spoken word poets Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye will kick off Ruffing Montessori School’s Arts Integration Year on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 7pm with a spoken word performance at Ruffing’s Cleveland Heights campus.
Sarah Kay is the founder and co-director of Project V.O.I.C.E (Vocal Outreach into Creative Expression) with Phil Kaye. Through Project V.O.I.C.E., Sarah and Phil travel to schools, colleges and universities across the country to teach and empower young adults to write, perform and express themselves through spoken word poetry.
For those who are not familiar with Sarah and Phil, we urge you to watch her performance at the 2011 TED Conference of, “If I Should Have a Daughter,” and “Hiroshima,” both of which are featured on www.kaysarahsera.com and www.project-voice.net. You will find that her soft-spoken presence belies her intensity, and that Sarah and Phil’s youth contradicts their wisdom on issues of humanity.
This performance is free and open to the general public – so invite your friends, neighbors and colleagues and RSVP to Karen Hahn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
