Songs of Life and Love

Join Soprano Diane Julin Menges & Guitarist Brian Kozak for Songs of Life and Love. This FREE CONCERT is part of Arts in the Cathedral’s annual concert series.

Songs of Life and Love is a Time Traveler’s Musical Journey through Western Europe and the Americas. The adventure begins with Dowland in Renaissance England at the Court of King James I and sails into the Baroque Period of Monteverdi’s Italy.  No European voyage would be complete without the 20th century pastorale songs of Britten, and the flare of de Falla’s Canciones Populares Españolas.  Cross the Atlantic into Central and South America where you’ll hear the haunting and beautiful sounds of Haiti and Brazil with songs by Haitian composer Frantz Casséus, Brazilian Guitarist/Arranger Laurindo Almeida and Brazil’s best known and beloved composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Diane & Brian - Soprano, Guitar Duo performs throughout Northeast Ohio, presenting a variety of music from lute songs to popular songs of the big band era. They have been featured on several programs for the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society, including their Virtuoso Showcase Concert and Local Artists and Rising Stars Series.  The duo has also performed on the Kent State University Stark Campus Guest Artist Recital Series, the Tuesday Musical Series in Fairview Park, and the Music and Fine Arts Concert Series at First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland. In December Diane & Brian will present Carols from Around the World at Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights.
