Every Woman Should Be a Mother? Crazytalk.

The myth that every woman should have a child lives on, even as child-killing mommas like Susan Smith prove it’s not true. Could someone please introduce Diane Von Furstenberg to Gloria Steinem?

In case you hadn't heard...

Katherine McAloon,  a 27 y/o Oregon mother of 2, recently, allegedly, treated a group of young girls a party where they were encouraged to use alcohol and marijuana. But, that's not what killed 14 y/o Ashley Long.  No, what did her in was when Ms. McAloon talked the reluctant girl into inhaling helium straight from the tank.

In Alabama, a 9 y/o girl died from dehydration after her stepmother and grandmother forced her to run for 3 hours non-stop as punishment for telling lies.  Yes. Three hours.

AND...

Jersey Shore's Snooki is pregnant

Factor all that in when you learn what iconic clothing designer Diane VonFurstenberg recently told CNN's Erin Burnett:

"I believe that all women should have children. I do. I think that our body is made for that and I think we all should have children and if we can't somehow, we should adopt them. I think women are made to have children and to be mothers. I also think that women have to have an identity outside the home."

Ms. Von Furstenberg, 65, was responding to statements made by Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum in a book he wrote in 2005.

See, here's the thing.

It's not that the lady isn't entitled to her opinions, and to voice them.

It's just that the lady may be nuts.

Buy a wrap dress; disregard the rest.

I agree. I had even been tempted to start a blog just before this new and "improved"Read More layout. No longer interested in doing that - can't find anything on this patch.

That's odd. I was at the previous meeting, my first - on Global Warming, paid dues for the firstRead More time ever, wrote down my e-mail more than once, and still had no idea there was a meeting was last night.

Location is on Ormond Road, between Lee and South Taylor (the Heights main library is on the corner)

Diane, for what it's worth, I believe FutureHeights has announced their intention to have a meetingRead More where the community can discuss ideas for Severance.

Along those lines, Diane, I thought an indoor greenhouse would be a good idea. Classes on how toRead More create gardens, grow food, store and preserve food would be an asset to the City.

Diane H. Dreizen & bachtobroadway42 - what interesting ideas! I'd love to see the whole messRead More raised and the area turned into a public park/recreation area with walking trails, bicycle paths, community gardens, etc. It seems the wind turbines could be in a place like that too. That's my dream, but we'll probably get some hideous redundant commercial development instead.

Just ignore them then. The important thing is what we're talking about HERE.

Please join the conversation. The proposed school bond would be a timely starting point!
